In business in Tyler, Texas since 1982, Powell Properties Real Estate has been helping prospective buyers and sellers in real estate, as well as renters, property management and Extended Stay Lodging. Bertrand (Bert) Powell along with his wife, Becca also own and operate Tyler’s first bed & breakfast, The Rosevine Inn located in the historic Brickstreet District.
As a real estate broker, Powell Properties Real Estate has many repeat customers in the Tyler area. They have made a name for Powell Properties Real Estate as a company you can trust. Some of their interests are restoring homes in the Azalea and Brickstreet Areas and enjoying membership and activity with the historic McClendon House.

Bert’s Story
Bert Powell founded Powell Properties Real Estate in 1982
Bertrand “Bert” Powell was born in Ft. Worth, texas, February 18, 1956, the third of five children. His parents met after WWII, during the occupation of France. After coming back to Texas, the Powells transferred to Pryor, Oklahoma. After his father’s decease in 1970, the family explored the four surrounding states for a couple of years and settled on Tyler, Texas.
The city had good schools, an emphasis on beautification and an eye for growth and future development. Bert finished high school at Robert E. Lee where he first met his future wife, Rebecca “Becca” Roberts who had come to Tyler from Midland, Texas. While working and attending college, Bert obtained an Associates of Arts Degree at Tyler Junior College in 1977. He enrolled the following semester at The University of Texas at Austin to obtain a degree in Finance with a minor in Real Estate. By 1978, Bert was licensed and had chosen to make a career in Real Estate.
He and Becca married in 1980 and subsequently opened a brokerage company, Powell Properties Real Estate in 1982. The next several years were very prosperous and Bert gained valuable insight into investing, building new homes, remodeling, rental properties, property management, as well as many other facets of Real Estate.
The Tyler economy took a downturn in 1986 and buying and selling foreclosures became the norm. The Powell’s buffered the recession by opening Rosevine Inn Bed & Breakfast in the historical Brick Street District. This new venture got Bert highly involved in neighborhood revitalization which is still a large part of his brokerage. What makes Bert more innovative and different than other Realtors is his ability to create a “solution” when all avenues appear to be exhausted! A steady customer base seeks his assistance and expertise for home ownership, cash flow investments or simply advice for that next remodel.
